Vietnam fruit and vegetable exports recorded another strong month in August 2026, highlighting growing international demand for Vietnamese agricultural products.
According to Customs Department data reported by VietnamNet, fruit and vegetable exports reached approximately US$1.37 billion in August 2026, representing a 27.6% increase from the previous month and a 44.5% increase compared with the same period in 2025.
This was also the second consecutive month in which Vietnam fruit and vegetable exports exceeded US$1 billion.

Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Exports: Strong Growth in the First Eight Months of 2026
During the first eight months of 2026, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports reached approximately US$6.15 billion, up 27.7% year on year.
The figures demonstrate the increasing role of fresh produce in Vietnam’s agricultural export sector and the continued expansion of Vietnamese products in international markets.
While durian remains an important contributor to overall export growth, Vietnam continues to supply a broader range of fresh produce, including mangoes, coconuts, pomelos, limes and other tropical fruits.

What This Means for International Fresh Produce Buyers
Growing export volumes create more opportunities for international buyers to diversify their sourcing from Vietnam.
However, higher export demand also makes procurement planning increasingly important.
Importers and distributors should consider several factors when developing Vietnamese sourcing programmes:
- Seasonal product availability
- Buyer-defined size and quality specifications
- Packing requirements
- Origin and product traceability
- Phytosanitary and market-access requirements
- Pre-shipment quality inspection
- Export documentation
- Shipping schedules and transit time
For fresh produce, successful sourcing depends not only on product availability but also on coordination throughout the supply chain.

Vietnam’s Growing Role in Fresh Produce Supply
Vietnam has a diverse tropical agricultural base capable of supplying multiple fresh-fruit categories to international markets.
As market access continues to develop, exporters, growers and packing facilities are also facing higher requirements for traceability, food safety, quality control and compliance with destination-market regulations.
For buyers, this makes supplier communication and pre-shipment preparation particularly important.
Understanding product specifications before sourcing begins can help reduce misunderstandings related to sizing, maturity, packaging and shipment requirements.
Vietnam fruit and vegetable exports are increasingly supported by stronger sourcing coordination, traceability and market-access compliance.
